According to the latest report, Apple announced in February this year that it will launch the iPhone Tap to Pay (click to pay) feature, designed to allow compatible iPhones to accept Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards as well as payments in other digital wallets without the need for additional hardware.

Moreover, Stripe was announced as the sole partner when Apple first launched Tap to Pay, but Apple has recently expanded its reach with the introduction of another partner, Adyen.

Furthermore, Dutch payment processing company Adyen announced the partnership in a press release and said it was planning to work with Apple to offer Tap to Pay on the iPhones of its U.S. customers later this year.

Adyen will work with enterprise clients and commerce platforms, including Lightspeed Commerce and NewStore, to expand the number of businesses that can take advantage of Tap to Pay.

Tap to Pay on iPhone will compete with existing iPhone payment solutions from merchants like Square. It will allow small businesses to accept NFC contactless payments using an iPhone XS or newer model through a supported iOS app.

When checking out someone, merchants ask customers to place their iPhone, Apple Watch, digital wallet, or contactless card on the merchant’s iPhone to quickly and easily complete the payment.

The new payments feature is set to debut in the US later this year, and while Apple hasn’t provided a specific release date, new partners are being added, suggesting we may see it go live in the not-too-distant future.
