According to the latest report, the International Semiconductor Industry Association (SEMI) released a report that it is expected that 25 new 8-inch wafer production lines will be added from the beginning of 2020 to the end of 2024, and the monthly production capacity of the 8-inch fab will reach 690 million.
Moreover, the scale of 10,000 pieces has reached a record high to meet the application requirements of power management chips, panel driver ICs and microcontrollers.

Furthermore, in the global 8-inch wafer fab outlook report, SEMI said that in 2021, 8-inch wafer fab equipment spending will reach 5.3 billion US dollars, and it is expected that 8-inch wafer fab equipment will spend in 2022. Expenditure will still be US$4.9 billion.
The report pointed out that wafer foundries will account for more than 50% of the world’s 8-inch wafer fab production capacity this year, analog factories will account for about 19%, and discrete component and power component factories will account for about 12%. In addition, SEMI expects 8-inch fab equipment spending to remain above $3 billion in 2023.
