Samsung is considering introducing a manufacturer-certified recycling parts program for mobile device repairs in the first half of this year, hoping to reduce the burden on consumers and the negative impact on the environment by using recycled materials.
If the plan is applied, the cost of repairing damaged displays will be halved, currently costing about 200,000 won to 100,000 won. Samsung Electronics plans to boost consumer confidence by ensuring that the quality and performance of recycled parts are comparable to new products.
Moreover, Samsung Electronics has been promoting the use of recycled materials since the announcement in August 2021: Earth’s Galaxy Project: Some parts of the Galaxy S22, released in February, and the new Galaxy Book 2 Pro series of notebooks, released in April, use recycled plastic material from old fishing nets.
