Mercedes-Benz announced its electric concept car Vision EQXX’s battery life measurement

Posted on

Mercedes-Benz announced that its electric concept car Vision EQXX successfully completed a long-distance test of more than 1,000 kilometers on a single battery charge, which is what electric vehicles can achieve on a single charge.

The trip spanned several European cities, starting in Germany, then to Switzerland and Italy, and finally to the port city of Cassis, near Marseille in southern France. The temperature is between 3 and 18 degrees Celsius and the average speed of the vehicle is about 86.9 km/h.

Moreover, the total driving distance this time is “over” 1,000 kilometers, which is more than double the range of most electric vehicles today. According to Mercedes, the Vision EQXX arrives at its destination with about 15 percent of its charge remaining, with a remaining range of about 140 kilometers. Average electricity consumption was a record low of 8.7 kWh per 100 km.

Furthermore, Mercedes first unveiled the Vision EQXX concept earlier this year as an experiment in battery efficiency, and some subsequent production cars may be based on the design.

To its credit, Mercedes didn’t run the range test in anything like perfect conditions. The test route included a variety of steep hills and a wide temperature range, from frigid mountains to more temperate regions, helping to demonstrate the Vision EQXX’s performance in a variety of environments.
