According to the latest report, Microsoft is preparing to let third-party developers use the Microsoft Store to create and distribute their Windows 11 gadgets. The revealer @FireCube said he found evidence of the upcoming feature upgrade in his latest Widgets listing.

At present, the addition of third-party developers will make the Windows gadget space more useful in daily use. Although now Microsoft only provides some basic widgets, such as calendar, to-do list, OneDrive photos, weather, traffic, etc. Other than that, there is almost no choice.
Moreover, the sources believe that the lack of more developer support makes Windows Widgets look immature, and it is not ready for its golden age, especially compared to the rich widget ecosystem on iOS and Android.
You can open Windows Gadgets by pressing Win + W, clicking the Gadget button on the taskbar, or by swiping from the left side of the screen. Microsoft also uses this to display the weather on the taskbar in the lower-left corner of the screen, so many users want the company to allow third-party applets to replace the weather.
At its recent Windows 11 event, Microsoft also showcased the updated Windows widget space with a full-screen UI, which will provide more screen real estate to accommodate all third-party widgets from users’ favorite developers. Of course, the premise is that these developers are willing to develop gadgets for Windows 11.
