According to the latest report, TikTok is now testing a “dislike” button to help users “feel more in control of comments”, according to 9to5 Mac. Users in the test can upvote any comment they deem irrelevant or inappropriate. The social media giant unveiled the new feature in a blog post about fostering goodwill and safety on the platform.

Moreover, this effort is aimed at continuing to create a real sense of engagement for users on TikTok. “In order to avoid creating a sense of malice among community members or demoralizing creators, only those who posted dislikes in the comments will be able to see the effect of this action.”
TikTok is also sending reminders to guide creators about its comment filtering and bulk blocking and deletion options. As part of TikTok’s safety initiatives, these alerts are aimed at creators who have received a high number of negative comments.
Additionally, the company said it will soon update the public with the test results and whether the “dislike” button will be officially announced to all users. In today’s transparency report, TikTok said it removed more than 85 million offending videos between October and December 2021 about 1 percent of all videos uploaded to the app.
