SUSE Euler Linux 2.0 launched, greatly improving southbound ecosystem

At openEuler Developer Day 2022, SUSE announced for the first time a commercial release based on openEuler 22.03 LTS – SUSE Euler Linux 2.0, which will be officially released in June this year.

According to the official introduction, SUSE Euler Linux 2.0 is the first commercial version of openEuler that supports Intel’s latest Sapphire Rapids platform; on the basis of the Euler open source community, it improves the support for the existing Intel platform and a large number of other hardware.

Moreover, greatly improving the openEuler southbound ecological support capability of the commercial version; the introduction of key enterprise-level virtualization, storage, network, and other enhancements greatly improves the capabilities of the commercial version of openEuler in key business areas.

Features of SUSE Euler Linux 2.0 include:

  • Based on the first community-built long-term version openEuler 22.03 LTS.

  • The 5.10 kernel integrates the latest stable version patches of the community, the latest upstream performance enhancements, and various optimizations of the openEuler kernel.

  • Support the latest hardware platforms: Intel next-generation Sapphire Rapids, Huawei Kunpeng 920, Feiteng S2500, built-in the latest drivers for a large number of common hardware.

  • National secret algorithm AVX acceleration.

  • I/O and network enhancements: Multipath TCP protocol, RDMA network block storage, Bcache block storage acceleration, and TCP protocol performance optimization.

  • Virtualization enhancements.

  • The latest virtualization-related components: qemu and libvirt, integrated with numerous enhancements from the community.

  • The latest container-related components: docker, runc, containerd, etc.
