According to the latest report, the revealer broke the news that Intel’s upcoming fourth-generation Xeon SapphireRapids-SP server chip has very strong performance, with 56 physical cores and 112 threads, up to 350W PL1 TDP design, single core can accelerate to 3.7 GHz.
The processor is ES2 QYFS version, the main frequency is 1.9~3.3GHz, it adopts a 56-core 112-thread design, and the L3 cache reaches 105MB. It is used with the Intel C740 series (Emmitsburg) chipset motherboard.

Judging from previous revelations, Intel will release its next-generation server chips later this year. The platform, called Eagle Stream, will host at least two generations of Xeon chips, called Sapphire Rapids and Emerald Rapids.
The former, originally scheduled to launch in 2021, has been pushed back to the second half of 2022. Foreign media believe that this series of CPUs may be launched at about the same time as the 13th-generation Core Raptor Lake series.
Similar to existing products, the Sapphire Rapids series processors are also built on the Intel 7 (formerly 10 nm enhanced SuperFin) manufacturing process. Additionally, SapphireRapids-SP is expected to feature new 8-channel DDR5 memory and will support PCIe 5.0 on Intel’s Eagle Stream platform.
Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen engineering samples of the Sapphire Rapids-SP, but the previous ES2 chip was limited to 270W, and this time the chip has increased the TDP to 350W (PL1) and 420W for the PL2. According to the data collected by the HWINFO64 software, the single-core acceleration can reach 3.7GHz.
He believes that the chip belongs to the Xeon Platinum 8476 or Platinum 8480, both of which are expected to be designed with 56 cores and 112 threads. From the test situation, when it is connected to the Intel C741 “Emmitsburg” motherboard with 1TB of DDR5-(4800?, CL40-39-38-76), the performance is very stable and the power consumption is 922W.
It is worth mentioning that although Intel has confirmed that Sapphire Rapids is expected to launch this year, it has not specified which month, only that the 4th generation Xeon Scalable series will be replaced by Emeralds Rapids next year, and Intel also announced in February this year. With its plans for the fifth- and sixth-generation Xeon series, this generation of processors is embarrassing.
