Samsung Electronics uses Exynos AP for low-end smartphones

According to the latest report, Samsung Electronics has used the Exynos 850 application processor (AP) for the Galaxy A13 LTE smartphone in the North American market. The Galaxy A13 comes in two versions – LTE and 5G, with the 5G version powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 700 processor.

Moreover, the Galaxy A13 is the successor to the Galaxy A12. Samsung Electronics will ship 51.8 million Galaxy A12 units in 2021, making it the world’s best-selling smartphone model, according to market research firm Omdia.

Furthermore, this model went down in history as the first smartphone model to sell more than 50 million units. The Galaxy A12 uses MediaTek’s Helio P35 AP, which means the Galaxy A12 played a big role in MediaTek’s rise. In 2022, the Galaxy A13 is very likely to become a big hit for Samsung Electronics.

Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A33 released last month feature the Exynos 1280, a gaming-specific AP based on a 5-nanometer process, whose GPU clock speed exceeds that of the comparable Dimensity 900 AP. The Exynos 1280 is also featured in the Galaxy M33, which was released in April for India and Southeast Asia.

Samsung Electronics is increasing the proportion of Galaxy A and Galaxy M series in its smartphone business, the company is shifting its focus from developed countries to emerging markets, and Samsung is increasingly focusing on mid-and low-priced smartphones.
