According to the latest report, automaker Stellantis said on Tuesday it would suspend production at its Russian plant due to logistical difficulties and sanctions imposed on Russia.
Stellantis manufactures and sells brands such as Peugeot, Citroen, Opel, Jeep, and Fiat in Russia, but has only a 1% share of the Russian car market. Stellantis operates a van factory in Kaluga, about 200 kilometers southeast of Moscow, which it shares with Japanese automaker Mitsubishi.

“In light of the increasing number of cross-sanctions and logistical difficulties, Stellantis has suspended manufacturing operations in Kaluga to ensure full compliance with all cross-sanctions and to protect its employees,” Stellantis said in a statement.
Moreover, Stellantis has suspended all car exports and imports with Russia after shifting production to Western Europe amid the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The company also said it would freeze plans to make more investments in the country. Kaluga’s van production is for the local market only.
Furthermore, Stellantis Chief Executive Carlos Tavares said at the end of March that the group would have to close the Kaluga plant soon because it was running out of parts.
