According to the latest report, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in a tweet today that Apple may release its first full-screen smartphone in 2024, of which the ” iPhone 16 Pro” will be the first with a screen.
Apple devices with Face ID and an under-screen front-facing camera. However, Ming-Chi Kuo only predicted that in two or three years, Apple itself may not be able to determine whether to adopt mass production.

Ming-Chi Kuo said, “I think the true full-screen iPhone will come out in 2024. The high-end iPhone in 2024 will have an under-screen front camera and an under-screen Face ID. Low light conditions are not good for the quality of the front camera, and the ISP and algorithms are very important for the quality of the front camera. Quality improvement is critical.”
Moreover, Ming-Chi Kuo’s comments build on his previous prediction that Apple won’t launch an iPhone with an under-display Touch ID anytime soon. Ming-Chi Kuo agrees with display analyst Ross Young that under-screen Face ID will appear on the iPhone 16, while Touch ID will not.
Previously, Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple’s roadmap for using under-screen Face ID on the iPhone in 2024 is “not a technical issue”, but more likely a marketing decision. But the latest thinking seems to suggest that current hardware and software limitations may also be a factor in Apple’s efforts to perfect the under-screen technology.
This year’s high-end iPhone 14 Pro models are expected to ditch the notch in favor of a pill Face ID and a single-punch-hole front-facing camera. Where Apple is headed is unclear, but 2019 rumors suggest that Apple has made at least one prototype of an iPhone with a bezel-less screen, while the TrueDepth camera sensor for Face ID is housed in a thin bezel above the display.
