Wi-Fi core chip suppliers are seeing an improvement in tight supply as they gain more available fab capacity in foundries, sources at IC design firms said.

Moreover, sources said that suppliers are accelerating the production of Wi-Fi SoCs to absorb their backlogs with additional foundry capacity support, and their shipments stabilized in the second quarter. Suppliers of Wi-Fi core and peripheral chips are optimistic about the growth momentum of shipments in the second half of the year.

“In addition to stable shipments, lead times from major Wi-Fi SoC suppliers are also shrinking. Even Broadcom, whose lead time has been hovering at more than 50 weeks for a long time, is expected to accelerate shipments from the second half of the second quarter, and further shorten the delivery time in the second half of the year,” the source said.
