In March of this year, Sony first announced the launch of a new generation of PlayStation Plus services. The premium version of PlayStation Plus supports downloading more game content, and can also run classic game content from the original PlayStation, PS2, PS3, and PSP.
If users want to experience Sony’s retro games, they need to get the premium version of PlayStation Plus. When the news was originally announced, Sony had said that the new service would be rolled out first in Asian markets “in June,” followed by “North America, Europe and the rest of the world.”
There are three versions of PlayStation Plus for players to choose from. The basic version of PlayStation Plus supports features such as multiplayer online games, free monthly game downloads, and cloud storage of game progress. The monthly subscription fee is $9.99, and the annual subscription fee is $59.99.
Furthermore, the upgraded PlayStation Plus not only includes everything in the base PlayStation Plus but also downloads and runs up to 400 PS4 and PS5 games. The price is $14.99 per month and $99.99 per year.
The Premium Edition of PlayStation Plus includes everything from the first two editions, plus 340 more games, including PS3 titles available via streaming, as well as classics from the original PlayStation, PS2, and PSP. The premium version of PlayStation Plus offers users a limited-time trial feature that allows players to try out the game before purchasing and is priced at $17.99 per month or $119.99 per year.
Sony said that when the new PlayStation Plus service launches, “PlayStation Now, which offers a collection of PS4, PS3, and PS2 games, will no longer be available as a standalone service.”
