Overall, the Sony WH-1000XM5 doesn’t look much different from the WH-1000XM4 and seems to at least look cleaner and more minimalistic than the previous model. The earpads appear to be slightly larger than the previous generation, and the headband has thicker pads, so sources believe that the new model should also be more comfortable to wear.

Additionally, the switches on this headset appear to have been replaced by sliders, while the Custom button has been renamed to “NC/Ambient,” similar to the WH-1000XM3. According to the leak, the headset will be available in at least two colors for users to choose from black and silver.

In addition, we can also expect that Sony will bring you a significant improvement in the ANC function, so it is reported that the new product is equipped with two dedicated chips and three microphones to cancel noise.

According to Technknews, the Sony WH-1000XM5 will offer up to 40 hours of battery life with ANC turned on, a full 10 hours more than the WH-1000XM4, but with a slight increase in charging time (3.5 hours).

In other respects, this headset will support Bluetooth 5.2 connection, retaining the 3.5mm audio jack and USB-C interface. But unfortunately, there is no news about the launch date of the Sony WH-1000XM5. It is expected that Sony will announce more news about this headset in the next few months.
