Apple’s iPhone 14 Max will be at least USD 2OO cheaper than current Pro Max: Gurman

According to the latest report, Bloomberg Mark Gurman said that the iPhone 14 base model will further differentiate the iPhone 14 Pro series, and the regular version will not use the previously reported A16 chip and 48MP wide-angle camera, they only belong to the Pro and Pro Exclusive to Max.

In his latest “Power On” newsletter, Gurman revealed that Apple is still working on satellite connectivity. He also talked about how Apple will further differentiate its Pro and non-Pro models in the iPhone 14 series. The new 48-megapixel wide-angle camera will be exclusive to the Pro models, while the standard iPhone 14 will still use the same 12MP camera from the iPhone 13 series.

Moreover, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also raised this possibility. He also believes that the non-Pro models of Apple’s iPhone 14 series “may stick to last year’s A15 or A15 fine-tuned version”, while the Pro models will use a new A16 chip (just to give an example, the final name is A16 and A16 Pro may also be). Gurman added that in addition to reinforcing the difference, a global shortage of chips was a big factor behind the decision.

Furthermore, Gurman added that the new “iPhone 14 Max” will introduce a larger 6.7-inch display on the non-Pro line of iPhone 14 models, which is at least $200 cheaper than the only current Pro Max option with a 6.7-inch iPhone.

Gurman also reiterated other points that the iPhone 14 series models will feature a very similar design to the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models, with the Pro series featuring a new punch-hole screen design, including a pill-shaped punch-hole for Face ID and the round hole used for facial recognition eventually forms an exclamation mark screen.

In addition, the cameras of the iPhone 14 series will also appear with “more exaggerated bumps” to accommodate the new sensors. In addition, Gurman said that Apple originally intended to introduce the satellite communication function in the iPhone 13 series models, but this function did not appear for some reason, but it is ready for this year’s iPhone 14 series product line.

The satellite communication function is designed to send text messages to emergency contacts in emergencies without a data network, and the Apple Watch will also get satellite communication in 2022 or 2023.

The rumor is said to be backed by satellite company Globalstar Inc. In February, Globalstar said it reached an agreement with anonymous customers to provide “continued satellite service” with 17 new satellites. Globalstar revealed that the client had paid out hundreds of millions of dollars.
