TSMC may receive USD 17.024 billion orders from Apple in 2022

According to the latest report, TSMC is expected to receive T$500 billion ($17.024 billion) in orders from Apple in 2022, up from T$405.4 billion in 2021.

Moreover, sources say Apple’s component makers and device assemblers have seen their manufacturing operations hit hard by the ongoing lockdowns in Shanghai, Kunshan, and Suzhou and the resulting logistical bottlenecks, if the lockdowns persist, Apple may be forced to delay the release of new iPhones.

But the source went on to say that Apple’s upstream semiconductor manufacturing is barely affected, and TSMC is expected to handle new iPhone AP shipments to Apple as planned, which will significantly boost TSMC’s revenue.

“Apple’s overall shipments in 2022 are expected to remain flat or slightly up from 2021, with sales of iPad, Mac, and iPhone series more stable than competitors,” the source said. The report pointed out that as TSMC’s largest customer, Apple’s revenue contribution rate in 2021 will reach a high of 26%, much higher than the 10% of the second-largest customer, and this number is expected to rise further in 2022.
