LG Electronics recently filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for Eastern Texas, accusing TCL of TVs sold in the U.S. infringing its standard patents.
According to the source, the patents involved include a TV user interface (UI), image and sound processing technology, and Wi-Fi-related technologies. LG Electronics’ official website shows that the above patents apply to LG Electronics’ main TV product groups – Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) TVs, Nano Battery TVs, 8K TVs and 4K Ultra HD TVs.

LG Electronics pointed out in the lawsuit documents that after LG Electronics proposed to TCL to extend the patent license contract in November 2018, it had proposed more than 10 negotiations in more than two years, but TCL refused.
Moreover, LG Electronics originally proposed to renew the patent license contract at the end of 2018, but TCL responded for the first time in February 2020 more than a year later.
Furthermore, LG Electronics said that the first contract renewal negotiation meeting was held in July 2021, but at this time, TCL requested an extension of time in the negotiation to measure the value of LG Electronics’ patents, showing a cold attitude.
LG Electronics emphasized: “During the period from 2019 to 2020, TCL developed and produced products using this technology, knowing that some of LG Electronics’ patents were infringed.”
