Moreover, Nokia announced that it will provide data center switching solutions for Microsoft’s data center facilities to meet the bandwidth growth of Microsoft Azure.
With the significant growth of cloud services and cloud computing, network technology is also gradually migrating to 400GE. Nokia’s 7250 IXR in-frame interconnect router was selected by Microsoft to support high-density 400GE applications in its “Tier-2” network architecture.
Nokia’s next-generation data center switch portfolio provides the scale, openness, aggregation, and interconnectivity required by modern data center networks. The 7250 IXR offers a range of high-performance chassis and fixed form factor switch options for a data center Top-of-Rack (ToR), Leaf, Spine, and Super-spine applications.
Furthermore, these platforms support port rates up to 400GE, with future support for 800GE, and a comprehensive IP and Ethernet feature set. Microsoft Azure says Nokia’s platform is a natural fit for the massive interconnection needs Microsoft needs.
Nokia brings high density, high performance, and flexibility to Microsoft’s data center networking and cloud environments, and has partnered with Microsoft to provide box switches running the open-source network operating system SONiC.
