Hawaiian Airlines has reached an agreement with SpaceX Starlink to equip Airbus A330 and A321neo aircraft and Boeing 787-9s with Starlink satellite internet service, providing free high-speed, low-latency broadband internet access to passengers on trans-Pacific flights. That makes the hassle of downloading movies before takeoff a thing of the past, said Jonathan Hofeller, vice president of commercial sales for SpaceX Starlink.

Moreover, Hawaiian Airlines says the connection to the internet when passengers board is seamless, with no sign-up pages or payment portals. Hawaiian Airlines and Starlink are in the initial stages of implementation, with product installations expected to begin on select aircraft next year.

Furthermore, Hawaiian Airlines, which provides Starlink service on flights from the Hawaiian Islands to the continental U.S., Asia, and Oceania, does not currently plan to deploy service on Boeing 717 aircraft that perform short-haul flights between the Hawaiian Islands.

Since the first batch of 60 Starlink satellites was launched in May 2019, SpaceX has deployed 42 batches of Starlink satellites in a special network. Counting the Starlink satellites that were piggybacked by the previous “carpool”, SpaceX has launched a total of 2,300 satellites. There are multiple Starlink satellites, and the number of Starlink satellite broadband service users has reached 250,000.
