Samsung SmartThings unveils Partner Early Access Program for Matter developers

Samsung has announced support for the Matter standard for its SmartThings IoT platform at DSC 2021. Now the company has announced a Partner Early Access Program for numerous companies.

This new standard promises to integrate smart home products, which allow devices to work together regardless of their branding or smart assistant compatibility. Samsung also says that partners can also use the SmartThings app for seamless onboarding of their devices.

Moreover, dozens of companies including Aeotec, Aqara, Eve Systems, Leedarson, Nanoleaf, Netatmo, Sengled, Wemo, WiZ, and Yale will now be able to test their devices for Matter interoperability with Hub-enabled devices and SmartThings integration.

These companies manufacture IoT devices such as smart light switches and lightbulbs, motion and contact sensors, smart door locks, and others. Furthermore, Matter is an industry standard for IoT devices created by more than 180 companies.

Meanwhile, the Partner Early Access Program has created tremendous near-term excitement for SmartThings and select companies. It reflects the increasing demand for more interoperable, flexible, and private, smart home solutions that have the power to make mass smart home adoption a not-so-far reality.

Samsung’s smartphones, tablets, TVs, and Family Hub appliances will support the Matter standard through the integration of the SmartThings hub that will allow users to enjoy these connected smart devices without needing a separate hub.
