Microsoft brings new changes with every window’s update. But these automatic updates, sometimes become very irritating. It uses the internet in the background and applies updates if the users are not prepared for them. But in this article, we will tell you how you can turn off automatic updates.

But after disabling it, there is a high chance of you, missing some important windows updates. That includes security patches and Microsoft Defender definitions. Whereas, you can still update windows from the settings, dynamically.

How to turn off automatic updates

  • Type Edit group policy to find the group policy editor and click the first result
  • Now, under Computer Configuration, tap on Administrative templates
  • Double click Windows Components and scroll down to Windows update
  • Search Configure automatic updates
  • dialog box will pop up on the screen
  • Press the radio button that prompts Disabled
  • Click on Apply and Hit OK

You can now, open your Windows update settings to check the difference. You will be displayed a warning about update policies, and automatic updates being disabled.
