Google terminated software engineer who claimed its AI chatbot was sensitive

According to the Reuters reports, Alphabet’s Google said it had fired a senior software engineer who claimed that Google’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot LaMDA is self-aware.

In June, Google furloughed software engineer Blake Lemoine, saying he violated company policy and that his claims about LaMDA were “completely unfounded . ”

In an email, a Google spokesperson said: “It is regrettable that despite his lengthy investment in this issue, Blake has chosen to insist on violating clear employment and data security policies, including those that protect product information. necessity.”

Google last year called LaMDA, a language model for dialogue applications, a study by the company that showed that a dialogue-trained language model based on Transformer could learn to talk about basically anything.

Additionally, Google and many top scientists were quick to dismiss Lemoine’s claim as false, saying LaMDA was just a complex algorithm for generating convincing human language.
