Apple increased orders for  iPhone 14 / Pro components: Report

According to DigiTimes, Apple has increased orders for iPhone 14 / Pro components compared to the “faltering” Android mobile devices. Apple has reportedly ramped up parts orders from suppliers ahead of the launch of the “iPhone 14” series in September. That’s in stark contrast to a slew of Android phones that continue to face sluggish sales, according to supply chain sources.

Apple is considered to be the only smartphone maker whose sales have remained stable in recent months, with significant year-on-year growth. The good sales performance of the current iPhone lineup has encouraged Apple to step up preparations later this year after cutting initial chip orders for iPhone 14 models in anticipation of a drop in market demand. That’s in line with a report earlier this month in which analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple is expected to sell better “iPhone 14” series models than the iPhone 13 series.

iPhone sales typically slow between July and August as Apple is expected to launch new models in September, but shipments of the iPhone 13 series in July were reported to be a third higher than in the same period last year, which shows that demand for the device continues to grow. Apple is said to have informed suppliers that initial sales of the “iPhone 14” series are expected to be higher than those of the iPhone 13 series.

Meanwhile, the mid-to-low-end smartphone market, dominated by Android devices, “has struggled due to weakening demand” over the past year. According to reports, Android phone chip supplier MediaTek’s customer orders fell by as much as 30%. It is reported that Apple has started trial production of the “iPhone 14” series and plans to start mass production in August before the September launch.
