73% of employers in US admit they are currently using software to monitor their employees: Report

According to a new poll in the United States, 73% of employers admit that they are currently using software to monitor their employees, including time tracking, real-time location tracking, and screen monitoring. They worry that the development of the metaverse will make monitoring easier.

The data shows that employers are most interested in recording workplace meetings (42%), time tracking (39%), real-time location tracking (39%), and screen monitoring (39%); while employees are most concerned with real-time Location tracking (51%), screen monitoring (50%) and time tracking (47%).

Employee monitoring software has become a popular way for employers to keep an eye on their employees, and the Metaverse will increase the possibility of monitoring. Most employers report being excited (66%) and optimistic (54%) about the future of working in the metaverse, while employees report feeling anxious (24%), skeptical (20%), and confused (17%).

“Given that many workers are reluctant to undergo further surveillance in the workplace, in the future in the Metaverse, employers should exercise caution when planning to implement further surveillance activities, considering whether the loss of employee trust and satisfaction is worth it.” A total of 1,500 employees and 1,500 employers in the United States were surveyed to find out how they felt about working in the Metaverse.
