Samsung Korea’s official website announced today that it will bring a feature called ” repair mode ” to Galaxy phones to prevent users’ personal information from leaking. Samsung said “Repair Mode” is a feature that allows users to opt-out of data disclosure when repairing their smartphones, and fundamentally eliminates concerns that some private companies could access or leak personal information during repairs.

According to reports, users can turn on “Service Mode” in the “Battery and Device Maintenance” menu in the “Settings” of the smartphone, and then the phone will restart. After turning it on again, users will not be able to access personal data such as photos, messages, and accounts, and can only use the apps installed by default.
When the phone is repaired, the user can exit the “maintenance mode” through pattern/fingerprint recognition, and the phone will restart again and open access to personal data. Samsung will first bring a “repair mode” to the Galaxy S21 series of phones through software updates and plans to expand to some other models in the future, and other regions are expected to receive the feature in the near future.
