According to Digitimes, an Apple supply chain source revealed that the customer’s first headset has completed Pre-EVT (pre-engineering verification) at the end of June, and is about to enter the EVT stage. EVT speculates that the new product is expected to be put into mass production by the end of the year, and it may be unveiled in the first quarter of 2023 at the earliest.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported in January that the headset could be delayed until 2023 due to development issues related to performance and cooling. Ming-Chi Kuo also said on May 31 that it will take some time for Apple’s AR headset to enter mass production.

He believes that Apple will not release the AR headset and realityOS system at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), and may hold a special event for it in the future. press conference. Now it seems that Apple did not mention this product at WWDC.

According to The New York Times, Apple’s board of directors received a product demonstration of the headset, indicating that despite development issues, the headset is nearing completion.

It was previously reported that Apple’s AR/VR headset will be equipped with two to three displays, at least two of which are high-resolution 4K Micro OLED displays with up to 3000 PPI pixels. Sony is expected to supply Apple with the display modules used, and today’s report says LG Display will also supply Apple with Micro LED panels next year.

Samsung Display will reportedly supply traditional OLED panels for the device, perhaps for a peripheral vision where lower resolutions are acceptable. Samsung Display will then try to offer Micro OLED panels for second-generation devices.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple’s first headset is expected to be unveiled at a special event in January 2023, while subsequent devices, likely with higher-end specs and new affordable options, are expected to launch in 2025.
