Data from research institutes show that in July this year, the price of 8Gb DDR4 DRAM for PCs fell from $3.35 to $2.88, a drop of 14.3%, the biggest drop since February 2019 and the largest drop since 2020. The price is below $3 for the first time.

Moreover, the sources mentioned in the report that the price of NAND flash memory is expected to drop by 5%-10% in the third quarter, and the price of DRAM is expected to drop by 8%-13%. The sources believe that the price drop means that the performance of the two major memory chip manufacturers Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix in the second half of the year will not be very optimistic.

In terms of NAND flash memory and DRAM, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are the manufacturers with the highest market share, and Samsung Electronics’ share is much higher than other manufacturers.

Data from research institutes show that in the first quarter of this year, Samsung Electronics NAND flash memory sales were US$6.32 billion, with a market share of 35.3%; SK Hynix was the third largest supplier with a market share of 18%, slightly lower than Kioxia’s 18.9%. %.

In terms of DRAM, Samsung Electronics’ sales in the first quarter were US$10.34 billion, with a market share of 42.7%; SK Hynix’s sales were US$6.56 billion, making it the second largest manufacturer with a market share of 27.1%.
