Moreover, the Italian Communications Authority said that Top Ads disseminated gambling content advertisements through its website and YouTube channel. Google was fined for failing to take steps to remove illegal content uploaded by third parties.

The Italian Communications Authority also requires 7 days to remove illegal content that still exists on YouTube and third-party websites and prohibits the distribution and upload of videos with similar illegal content.

In addition, the Italian competition and market authority, the Italian antitrust agency, announced on July 14 that it had begun an investigation into Google for abusing its dominant market position to restrict data interconnection between platforms. Under Italian law, Google faces a fine of up to 10% of its annual global sales if it is found to have abused its position.
