Walmart became world’s largest company for ninth consecutive year: Fortune

Fortune” magazine released the annual “Fortune” World Top 500 list. Among them, Walmart became the world’s largest company for the ninth straight year, Amazon rose to No. 2, China’s State Grid Corporation ranked No. 3, and PetroChina and Sinopec ranked No. 4 and No. 5 respectively. Volkswagen (No. 8) overtook Toyota (No. 13) to retake the title of “world’s largest automaker”.

The data shows that the total operating income of the Fortune 500 companies this year is about 37.8 trillion US dollars, a sharp increase of 19.2% over the previous year, the largest increase in the history of the list, equivalent to one-fifth of the global GDP that year. The threshold for entry into the leaderboard (minimum sales revenue) also jumped from $24 billion to $28.6 billion.

Specifically, the top ten of the Fortune Global 500 in 2022 are Walmart, Amazon, State Grid Corporation of China, China National Petroleum Corporation, China Petrochemical Corporation, and Saudi Aramco, Apple, Volkswagen, China State Construction Engineering Corporation, CVS Health.

In addition, Huawei Investment Holding Co., Ltd. ranked 96th, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd. ranked 229th, Xiaomi Group ranked 266th, and BYD Co., Ltd. ranked 436th. Google parent company Alphabet ranked 17th, Samsung Electronics ranked 18th, Microsoft ranked 33rd, and US electric car company Tesla ranked 242nd.
