Nothing company founded by former OnePlus co-founder Pei Yu officially released its first smartphone, the Nothing Phone (1) last month. After the phone was released, it attracted a lot of attention because the screen brightness did not meet the advertised level.
Nothing Phone (1) uses a 6.55-inch 2400×1080 resolution OLED screen, which officially claims a peak brightness of 1200 nits. According to Computer Base, when they tested the phone, they found that the peak brightness of the Nothing Phone (1) screen could not reach 1200 nits under any circumstances, and the peak brightness tested was always slightly lower than 700 nits.

Since then, Nothing has changed the peak brightness of the Nothing Phone (1) screen to 700 nits in the product description on the official website but has not specified this event. Today, a Nothing company spokesman responded. He said that the Nothing Phone (1) screen can achieve a peak brightness of 1200 nits in hardware, but the current software limits its brightness to more than 700 nits. Nothing made this decision in order to reduce the heat of the phone and improve its battery life.
In addition, the spokesperson said that Nothing will listen to users and actively collect data feedback to determine whether to address this issue in future software updates. Nothing Phone (1) uses the Snapdragon 778G+ processor, has a built-in 4500mAh battery, supports 33W fast charging, and is provided with Nothing OS based on Android 12. Earlier, an industry chain source revealed that the flexible display of Nothing Phone (1) was exclusively supplied by Visionox.
