Strategy Analytics predicts that by 2027, the global dedicated AR headset market will ship close to 60 million units. David MacQueen, Executive Director at Strategy Analytics and author of the report, said: “Consumer AR headset shipments will grow by 161% year-over-year between 2020 and 2021. Over the same period, consumer AR headset revenue has grown faster than the overall market, with year-over-year growth of Over 300%.”

Driving the consumer AR market is newcomer Nreal, which has found the sweet spot between price ($599) and features, the report said. Founded in 2017, Nreal has a 30% shipment share and 51% revenue share of the consumer AR headset market by 2020.

In 2021, Neal’s share of consumer AR terminal shipments will reach 75%, and by the first half of 2022, its market share will rise to 81%, occupying a strong position in the early consumer AR market. One of the reasons for being able to achieve this market position is that through its technological approach, Nreal has lowered the price of AR hardware to a level acceptable to consumers. Currently, the company has a global presence, cooperating with 8 operators in 7 countries on three continents.

Nreal, which focuses on the AR field, was established in January 2017. Nreal’s official website said that using AR technology, enhanced digital images can be superimposed on the real world. Based on this, users can wear Nreal’s two glasses products, Light or Air, to access AR applications such as games or movies
