Semiconductor industry analyst Malcolm Penn previously said that the global semiconductor market has fallen into a rare downturn, and the market will shrink further. There is news today that MediaTek will continue to recruit talents in such a harsh market environment.
According to the latest report, despite the short-term semiconductor market noise, considering the long-term development of the company, MediaTek will not only reward employees with generous dividends but will also recruit more than 2,000 R&D talents this year. In this regard, some industry insiders said that in order to continue to develop new products, semiconductor companies will basically not reduce the recruitment of core R&D personnel.

Previously, in the face of the shrinking smartphone market, MediaTek has adjusted its annual growth forecast for the full year. Specifically, MediaTek revised down its original 20% increase to a high-teens percentage, which is roughly between 17% and 19%. MediaTek’s performance is relatively solid compared to other companies’ performance which may generate negative growth.
Moreover, MediaTek released its July financial report on August 10. The financial report shows that MediaTek’s July sales were NT$40.89 billion, and revenue in July increased by 1.31%; the cumulative sales in the first seven months reached NT$339.331 billion, a year-on-year increase of 23.82%.
In addition, MediaTek’s consolidated revenue in the first six months of 2022 was NT$298.44 billion, an increase of 27.7% over the same period in 2021, setting a new record for the same period.
