TCL Huaxing announced latest transflective display technology

TCL Huaxing introduced its latest screen power-saving technology – the latest transflective technology. In terms of principle, the official said that the screen is divided according to lighting technology, there are reflective type, transmission type, and transflective type.

The reflective screen has a reflective mirror on the back to provide a light source for reading under sunlight and light. The screen excels in strong light sources such as outdoor sunlight, but cannot even be read in low light. The transmissive screen relies on the backlight to provide the light source. Although the reading ability is excellent in low light and no light, the backlight brightness is seriously insufficient in outdoor sunlight.

Transflective display (TRD) technology is actually a display that can be switched between transmissive display mode or reflective display mode according to changes in ambient brightness. In bright environments, ambient light is used as a light source to achieve display, and in dark environments.

The display is realized by using the backlight to provide the light source, and at the same time, it combines the advantages of reflective display mode for energy saving, eye protection, high contrast in the high-brightness environment, and high-definition transmission display, and fast dynamic response.

TCL CSOT has completed the development of TRD technology and can quickly achieve mass production. At the technical level, TCL CSOT integrates an ambient light sensor inside the panel, which can adapt to changes in ambient brightness and switch the display mode without adding additional processes.

TCL CSOT TRD’s reflective display mode power is 10% of that of transmissive mode and has ultra-low power consumption display characteristics. Compared with existing PID highlight products, TRD outdoor display power consumption can be reduced by about 90%.

In terms of dynamic display, compared with the reflective electronic paper on the market, the response time of TRD can reach several ms levels, the dynamic switching effect is better, and there is no ghosting problem.
