The report pointed out that the fast-growing application areas include VR equipment, smart door locks, and sweeping robots. Omdia expects that consumer VR headsets will be equipped with at least 6 different types of cameras in the future, including 2 positioning cameras, 2 eye tracking cameras, 1 ToF camera, and 1 RGB camera, respectively.
It is used to complete the positioning of the inside-out tracking device itself, eye tracking, gesture tracking, and functions such as see-through. If the equipped VR handle adopts a visual positioning scheme, the number of cameras will be even more.
In addition, Omdia predicts that global shipments of CIS used in VR headsets will grow at an average annual growth rate of 41% and will exceed 200 million in 2026.
