Apple’s iPadOS 16.1 Beta code leaked: Report

Apple released the iPadOS 16.1 developer preview Beta, announcing that the official version of iPadOS 16.0 will be skipped and 16.1 will be released on a scheduled date. According to 9to5Mac, according to the iPadOS 16.1 Beta code, starting with the iOS 16.1 system, the iPhone’s built-in wallet application will be able to be deleted.

The code indicates that if the Wallet app has been removed from the iPhone and the iPhone user is trying to use features such as Apple Pay, the app can be downloaded from the App Store. As of now, the Wallet app can be removed and hidden from the iPhone home screen, but not completely, and this will change with the launch of iOS 16.1.

Since iOS 16.1 is not yet available, it is impossible to actually test whether the wallet app can be removed, and Apple may also change some things before releasing an update later this year. The wallet is a key iPhone app because it includes Apple Pay debit and credit cards, processes Apple Pay Cash, includes Apple Card services, and allows users to store loyalty cards, airline tickets, and more.

It’s unclear why Apple chose to allow users to delete the Wallet app, but the company is facing a class-action lawsuit accusing it of violating antitrust laws by making Apple Pay the only tap-to-pay mobile wallet available on iPhones.

The iOS 16 update will be released sometime this September, while iOS 16.1 is expected to be released alongside iPadOS 16.1 at a later date. Apple’s official website has delayed the release of the iPadOS 16 series in order to develop and optimize the front-end scheduling multitasking function for the M1 iPad.
