How to disable automatic app updates on Google Play Store?

Our Android smartphone consists of several apps and sometimes it automatically starts getting updated. If you don’t want your phone to automatically update your apps Google Play Store has a setting for that. Enabling this option will turn off the automatic updates and that will also save your internet data.

There could be various reasons behind the automatic app update, maybe you have not put your phone to update apps manually. That’s why the apps available on your smartphone get updated in the background and that may consume a large amount of your network data which is not good. But you can stop this because there is an option for that.

How to disable automatic app updates on Google Play Store?

  • Open the Google Play Store.
  • Then tab profile picture in the top-right corner.

  • Once you’ve done that, a pop-up menu will appear then tab to  Settings.
  • And then Network Preferences.
  • After you tap on that section of the Settings, you’ll see the ‘Auto-update apps’ menu.

  • Right under that name, hit ‘Auto-update apps over Wi-Fi only.
  • A small pop-up menu will appear, giving you the option to automatically update apps over Wi-Fi only, on any network, or to disable automatic app updates.
