Google Nest Wifi Pro Router Exposure: Support Wi-Fi 6E

Google Nest Wifi Pro

In early June, there were reports that Google was developing a new Wi-Fi 6 router, and now the name has leaked, it is the Nest WiFi Pro.

The device was certified by the US FCC just over a month ago, and B&H now lists it as the “Google Nest Wi-fi Pro 6E Router”. The name may simply be “Google Nest Wifi Pro”, and the product page confirms support for Wi-Fi 6E, the latest connectivity standard available, at up to 9.6Gbps under ideal conditions.

“The main difference between Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E is the third bandwidth range, which is roughly between 6GHz and 7GHz. In general, Wi-Fi 6E has no direct impact on the potential speed of a user’s home/office network effect. In contrast, the 6GHz band is generally less congested, which means home devices are less likely to interfere with each other.”

In terms of pricing, a Nest WiFi Pro router is $199, compared to $169 for a 2019 Nest WiFi router and $99.99 for a 2020 Google WiFi. Wi-Fi 5 on existing Nest routers offers speeds of up to 2.2 Gbps.

Nest Wi-fi Pro routers for $299.99 for a 2-pack and $399.99 for a 3-pack, Nest Wifi Pro routers come in Snow (white), Linen (light brown), Fog (light blue), and Lemongrass (light yellow/green) are available. This color is consistent with the latest products like the Pixel Buds Pro, the Nest doorbell (battery), and the upcoming Pixel 7.

The Nest Wifi Pro router can also function as a network extender and Google Assistant speaker.

The “Pro” naming scheme means that the existing Nest WiFi Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel Buds Pro product naming conventions will remain and follow.

The Nest Wi’fi Pro router is expected to be announced alongside the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro and the Pixel Watch at the Made by Google’s event on October 6.
