New Acura NSX all-electric sports car expected to come in 2026

Acura is a luxury car brand owned by Japan’s Honda Motor. The current Acura NSX is coming to an end. The company launched a farewell model last year called the Type S, which was limited to 300 in the U.S. and sold out in 24 hours, marking the end of the era of the second-generation Honda supercar.

According to Nikkei Asia, we could see the return of an all-electric sports car bearing the NSX moniker in 2026. In an interview, Acura executive Jon Ikeda confirmed that a third-generation NSX will arrive.

As Acura’s flagship sports car product, it will also completely give up fuel power in the wave of electrification and is expected to make its world debut in 2026, but it still needs to wait for the final confirmation from the parent company Honda.

His certainty comes from Honda’s global CEO Toshihiro Mibe’s commitment to electrification. Shortly after taking office in April 2021, Mibe announced plans to convert Honda’s entire product line to electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles by 2040.

New Acura NSX Electric Car launchAs for what an electric NSX might look like, Ikeda has some ideas. “It’s not just straight lines.” In the electric supercar world, where extreme acceleration is already commonplace, Acura needed to bring something novel. Ikeda hopes the NSX will also be a technological showcase for the ultimate handling.

According to current news, the new Acura NSX may make its world debut as soon as 2026, and it may be based on Honda’s latest E: Architecture. It is worth mentioning that Jon Ikeda, vice president of Acura brand, confirmed last year that the NSX may return to the market in the form of EV in the future.

Ikeda said that the first generation of NSX is an oil-powered product, the second generation is a hybrid product, and another generation of products will appear in the future.
