With the continuous development of 5G, operators in many countries and regions are actively promoting 5G networks. According to Businesskorea’s report, Samsung Electronics announced that it has become the 5G communication equipment supplier of Comcast, the largest cable operator in the United States and the second largest Internet service provider in the United States.

It is reported that Samsung will provide Comcast with 5G RAN (Radio Access Network, radio access network) solutions to enhance the 5G connection of Comcast users.

Samsung said its 5G RAN products include CBRS and 600MHz radio frequency units, baseband units, and a newly developed 5G CBRS Strand Small Cell that can be deployed on Comcast’s air cable lines.

By using this lightweight Small Cell product, cable operators such as Comcast can leverage their existing DOCSIS infrastructure to more cost-effectively provide 5G cellular connectivity without having to build or acquire additional cell sites.

Public information shows that Comcast has 24.6 million cable TV users, 14.4 million broadband network users, and 5.6 million IP phone users. As the second largest Internet service provider in the United States, Comcast is second only to AT&T in the United States.

In early August this year, Samsung was selected by the Indian communication operator Bharti Airtel as the 5G communication equipment supplier. Founded in 1995, Airtel Group is the fourth largest operator in the world and the second largest operator in India, with approximately 490 million subscribers worldwide.
