Valve agency issued a document saying that it is accelerating the processing of pre-orders for the Steam Deck handheld. This is mainly due to the fact that it has sped up production, which has once again exceeded official expectations.

Valve said that officials are currently processing reservations that were originally scheduled for the fourth quarter. Today, the official Steam Deck account has once again updated its production progress on social platforms. It said that production of the Steam Deck handheld is faster than ever, and Valve is on track to complete all Steam Deck handheld pre-orders by the end of this year.

Steam Deck is equipped with AMD’s Van Gogh APU, and its CPU part adopts Zen2 architecture, 4-core specification, 2.4 GHz to 3.5 GHz. In the GPU part, the Van Gogh APU integrates an 8 CU RDNA2 GPU with a frequency of 1.0 GHz to 1.6 GHz and performance of 1.6TFops FP32. The TDP of the entire SoC is 4 to 15W, and it supports LPDDR5 memory with a capacity of 16GB.

In order to increase production capacity, Valve changed the storage specifications of Steam Deck in late May, and some Steam Deck handhelds will be equipped with NVMe PCIe Gen3 x2 SSD. While the specs have shrunk, Valve says its gaming performance isn’t affected.

Valve previously announced that Steam Deck will be released in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong later this year. Pre-orders have been opened in these four regions. The starting price of the Steam Deck Hong Kong version is 3288 Hong Kong dollars, the starting price of the Taiwan version is NT$13,380, the starting price of the Japanese version is 59800 yen, and the starting price of the Korean version is 589,000 won.
