A new wireless charging test reveals Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra losing by big margin

Posted on

Samsung Galaxy S23 series has launched with some outstanding hardware inside. A new wireless charging test performed by PhoneArena has revealed some important information.

With the Galaxy S23 series, Samsung reduced the wireless charging speed to 10W (you can get 15W speed if you use a charger made by Samsung) from 15W on the Galaxy S22 for third-party chargers. Using Samsung’s 15W wireless charger (EP-P2400), the S23 Ultra takes 40 minutes more to charge from 0-100% than the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Both of these phones have the same battery capacity and charging speed (5000mAh and 15W).

This is a very shocking result. It looks like the company is capping the wireless charging speed on the Galaxy S23 series smartphones. The charging performance of the Galaxy S23 and S23+ is a lot better when compared with S23 Ultra.

The possible reason to reduce the charging speed is to increase the battery health; by limiting the generated heat during charging.

When compared with Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max, the latest Apple phone won by 2 minutes. The 14 Pro Max took 2 hours and 35 minutes to complete 100% charge.

As a final result, Samsung’s S23 Ultra flagship charges the slowest among all the latest flagship smartphones in the world. Check the image below for comparison.
