Android adoption stats gives information about the information of Android devices including the current Android OS versions. Before moving this information to Android Studio for developers, Google used to give monthly updates to the public via its website. The update is now available on a quarterly basis instead of monthly.

As of April 2023, the Android 13 adoption number has increased 2X in market share since January, according to Google’s latest Android distribution stats (via 9to5google).

The distribution report shows that Android 13 is on 12.1% of devices including Android smartphones and tablets as of April 2023. The Android 13 adoption is more than doubled, when compared with data released for January 2023.

Back in January, Google added the Android 13 to the chart for the very first time, at that time it reached over 5% of devices since the launch in August 2022.

The report says that Android 11, launched back in September 2020, is still running on the majority of Android devices, as it currently holds at 23.5%.

When we talk about Android 12, the predecessor reached nearly 13.3% of devices in a year. The Android 12 and 12L currently recorded a combined 16.5% share. 18.5% of users are still using Android 10.

The faster Android 13 upgrade is due to Samsung, thanks to its big market share and speedy software upgrade method. The South Korean smartphone maker has already updated its all eligible devices with Android 13 OS. The company recently released the Samsung Galaxy S23 series with Android 13-based One UI 5.0 pre-installed, which has over 11 million sales so far.

All the Google Pixel devices have upgraded to Android 13 OS. Other smartphone manufacturers including OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, and Xiaomi contributed as well.

Google has already started the Android 14 beta program. Stay Tuned…
