WhatsApp is a popular messaging app with billions of installations on Android and iOS platforms. The app is now getting a new feature – a description for forwarded messages.

You can soon add a caption to forwarded messages, so you won’t need to send a follow-up message. In WhatsApp v2.23.8.22 version, users can add captions to images, videos, GIFs, and other documents they wanted to forward to multiple people, thanks to wabetainfo.
In the screenshot above, you can add a custom description for the forwarded image by removing the current caption. If you want, you can also remove the current caption and add a new one.
The new description will be sent as a separate message, to identify what doesn’t belong to the original message. You may also experience some issues during checking status updates and downloading videos in this version.
The feature is currently rolling out to beta users gradually via the Google Play Store.
