Huawei MatePad 10.4 first generation and the 2022 models are now receiving the April 2023 HarmonyOS update in China. These two tablets now run actively on HarmonyOS 3.0 and the company is sending new improvements to provide a better user experience.
Speaking of which, let’s dive into the changelog first.
The new update has optimizations for display including the alarm clock icon, which will appear correctly on the status bar. Also, the camera video recording is now more stable than before with new enhancements.
In addition to this, Huawei has enabled new notification alerts for the keyboard app. To be mentioned this update also optimizes the vibration effect of the device in some situations.
Don’t forget that Huawei is serious about the security of tablet devices and the Huawei MatePad 10.4 is no exception to this theory. The company is pushing April 2023 HarmonyOS security patch for all of these tablets with the latest release.

Huawei MatePad 10.4 first generation devices are receiving new HarmonyOS 3.0.0.165 upgrading from HarmonyOS 3.0.0.161 and some tab users are upgrading directly from 130. On the other hand, the 2022 version of MatePad 10.4 also receives the same version.
Important notes:
Due to version restrictions, please upgrade to HarmonyOS version 3.0.0.130/161 first. Otherwise, your Huawei MatePad 10.4 won’t recieve April 2023 software update. During the early adopters of the Beta version, you can enable the user experience improvement plan switch, which helps Huawei’s software developers to improve the software user experience.
This software update won’t delete your data, but it is still recommended that you back up all important data to your PC or cloud before downloading a new version. This requires you to free up to 8GB of storage in order to keep the downloaded package. However, the installation package will be automatically deleted after the update without taking up storage space.
