Google Android 14 is reportedly developing a new Fidelity theme style, which could make Material You wallpaper color adoption more bolder and deeper. Material You is a new Pixe-design language, which first debuted with the Android 12 OS and got refined with Android 13.
Since Material You has become an essential part of the operating system, Google is continuously putting efforts to make this design language better. It is noticed that auto-generated Color Palettes often feel like they missed the main color highlight from the wallpaper and focused somewhere else.
Material You Fidelity
Google has internally started working on this new style called Fidelity, which means “faithful to your wallpaper’s colors.” Pixel phones running Android 14 Beta can’t utilize the testing feature, but 9to5Google managed to gather info available in Google’s open-source code.
According to the report, the new Fidelity design refines the Material You function to choose a base color that’s present in your wallpaper and build the theme around that. It would end the current scenario of picking up colors related to the home screen and lock screen wallpapers.

At present, the new Fidelity theme style is not capable of finalizing a base color from a dark wallpaper that doesn’t look inappropriate in dark themes and dark icons. However, we would see further improvements over time and the final version will be greatly useful.
At the I/O 2023, the US tech giant is expected to reveal various information about Android 14’s development and distribution plan. If Google launches Android 14 by late July, Samsung phones may also get access to One UI 6 Beta in the same month.

One UI 6.0 Fidelity Material You
Since Samsung’s One UI 6.0 will be based on Android 14, it will follow all the guidelines mandated by Google to use the OS. Thankfully, Galaxy devices will also be compatible with this highly optimized dynamic theming style, however, it’s up to Google whether it becomes official with Android 14 or not.
