What is Locked Folder in Google Photos? How to access it

Posted on

Google Photos has recently introduced the Locked Folder feature which keeps your snaps and videos in a safe place where you can access them without the fear of prying eyes. In simple words, media in the respective folder won’t appear anywhere else in the application or in other apps on your device that have access to photos and videos.

Notably, the feature is official for both Android and iOS devices. However, you need to ensure that your device is running on the latest OS version. Besides, those who have access to the device screen lock can unlock the Locked Folder. Thus, make sure to have a strong lock to prevent alien hands from your snaps.

How to access the Locked Folder feature in Google Photos?

  • Open the Google Photos app
  • Tap on the Library option given at the bottom menu bar
  • Select Utilities > Locked Folder
  • Tap Set Up Locked Folder

Users can further choose to turn on backup for this folder. Thereafter, follow the on-screen instructions to unlock your device.
