X (formerly known as Twitter) is finally releasing an early version to test drive audio and video calling facility which enable a new way of communication for users. As the name reflects, one can initiate a normal call or FaceTime with friends and other connected members.
Notably, some basics let you enable audio and video calling on X (Twitter) more efficiently. For instance, all accounts can receive calls and you can control who can call you from the Direct Messages Settings. For calling an unknown person, they must have sent you a Direct Message at least once before.
Currently, the feature is only available for Premium subscribers on iOS devices. Although the company said to roll out the significant functionality on Android in the time ahead.
How to make an audio or video call on iOS?
- Click on the envelope icon which will lead you to Messages.
- Tap on any existing DM conversation or start a new conversation.
- Hit the phone icon where you can start an audio/video call
The account that you call will receive a notification that a person is calling them and if they don’t pick up they’ll get a notification that they missed a call, just like Instagram. You can further put the call on speaker, mute, or unmute with the toggles given on the call screen.
