WhatsApp Chat Lock feature is a useful tool that aims to enable better privacy for your sensitive conversations. While we already have biometric locks to wind up the messaging app, Chat Lock ensures that your ‘extreme private talks’ are safe even if someone has their hands on your phone.
From the name, the respective capability brings the specific chat out of the inbox and puts it behind its separate folder. Hence, you can only access the conversation using your device password or a biometric segment, such as a fingerprint. Besides, it hides the chat content in the notification.
How to enable or disable the WhatsApp Chat Lock feature?
- Open WhatsApp and select a chat
- Tap on the name of the selected conversation that will lead you to a description window
- Scroll down and click on Chat Lock
- Turn on the toggle and confirm your password or fingerprint
And it’s done! Your chat is now locked. To disable the feature, you need to again follow the same instructions. But this time, turn off the toggle and confirm your password.
