What is new ‘Memory Usage’ feature in Google Chrome? How to access it

Posted on

Google is adding a new Memory Usage feature for the Chrome app (desktop) to reveal the real-time memory consumption. This capability will appear in a tiny card structure under the page name and domain section. As soon as you will hover your cursor over it, the tab will highlight the relevant details.

Accordingly, the feature will read out what pages are consuming the device’s memory. Besides, it is far better than the outdated method where you had to visit the three-dots menu > More Tools > Task Manager.

How to access the Memory Usage feature in Google Chrome?

  • On your desktop, go to the Settings section
  • Tap on Performance
  • Scroll down and select the Memory Usage option

In case you want to enable or disable this feature, you can switch the toggle as per your requirements. The latest addition is showing up on the stable channel with the 119 version and rolling gradually for Mac, Windows, Linux, and ChromeOS users.
