What is Bootloader unlock in Android phone? How to use it
Android phone users often encounter the term ‘Bootloader Unlock’ which is a useful and effective feature. But do you know what it means and how you can use it? Today we are up with the topic of Bootloader and how users can access the functionality in a few steps.
To begin with, Bootloader unlock enables users to install custom firmware and provides full privileges to modify the handset. Eventually, this process is likely to alter some of the pre-loaded software or even replace the entire OS. Some devices do not include any unlocking method. But here is how you can do that!
How to unlock the bootloader on an Android phone?
- Go to Settings > About Phone > Build Number
- Tap on the Build Number until you get a confirmation message
- Visit Developer options
- Turn on the OEM unlocking option
- Scroll down and turn on USB debugging
- Now plug your handset into the computer using a USB-C or USB-A cable
- Pull down notification shade and select Charging this device via USB
- Choose File Transfer/Android Auto
- Allow your computer to run ADB commands on your device
From here, you need to enter the command abd reboot bootloader. Wait for a few seconds until your device reboots into the bootloader, then enter another command – fastboot flashing unlock. A prompt will appear. Use the volume rocker to choose the Unlock the bootloader-option and confirm by pressing the power button.
